Teen Bible Quizzing

I am a proud Teen bible Quizzer. If you are reading this then you probably are too. But in case you aren't, this is how it goes.

At the beginning of each year, we start studying a book/books of the bible. We just finished Romans and James. It was very awesome. It wasn't that much material and I memorized James but not Romans. Everyone studies the books and then after a while we come together and two teams at a time sit on pressure sensitive seats so that it can detect when a person stands up and makes a beep noise. Cool right? So there is a person called the quiz master who asks the questions and the first person to stand up gets to answer the question. Sounds easy enough but wait, there's more. If you jump before the quizmaster is done reading the question, then you get to finish the question for them and then give the answer. This makes it really intense, but it's easier than it seems and you can get the hang of it really quickly.

There are two divisions in local teams. Novice and Experienced. I am now starting my fourth year and I am an experienced quizzer. My first year I was a novice quizzer and second I was on the better end of the novice quizzers and even did some quizzes as an experienced quizzer, but for the entirety of my third year I was basically an intermediate, or a bad experienced quizzer because I didn't study very much. But now that I have gone to a national event, I have come home with a renewed hope, and I will now be an according to quizzer.

If you've never quizzed before, that probably sounded super foreign to you but I will explain. There are different types of questions in a quizzing round and an according to is one of them. It goes like this, According to Romans chapter 3 verse 23 who have sinned?

It asks a very vague question but tells you where the question is from, to give you a clue. There are people who have mastered this and memorized every single verse in a book so they can say the verse in their head and come up with the answer. But we can take it a step further. before I tell you, I have to explain what something called multipling is. It means, if you jump too early and the answer could be two different things, you can ask two questions and give two answers. (Don't get scared if you are just starting out quizzing or are planning to because you really can quiz casually.) What an according to quizzer sometimes does, is they stand up before they even start the question so all they get is where it is from. Then they ask all the possible questions from the verse and give all the possible answers. Yep, I wanna do that and be the best in my district. It will take some work though. I have to memorize about one thousand verses of the book of acts. It will be hard but hey that's life.
